John Rainford was born in Liverpool on 27th November, 1951 and attended Stockton Wood Primary School - the same school as Paul McCartney.  He lived around the corner from 'Penny Lane'. From there he won a place at Toxteth Grammar School where he excelled - not just in art - he won the Liverpool Chess Congress at age 15. Following his A levels, he went on to attain an honours degree at Staffordshire University in 1972. His first job was at Wedgwood in the Potteries where he worked for over 6 years, using his creative talents to promote Wedgwood china worldwide.

Since then he has worked for several leading advertising agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi and helped to promote many leading companies. Most recently he has worked for the Research and Development arm of Shell, both in Europe and America, using innovation and creativity to help develop breakthrough technologies.

John has been awarded a Commendation from the Royal Society of Arts.  He is an alumnus of the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management Northwestern University, in Illinois, the world's number one Business School, and has also been awarded the prestigious ATCO Scholarship at the University of Western Ontario.

John is one of today's leading lateral thinkers and an authority on Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He writes modular courses on 'Utilising creativity for competitive advantage' at Birmingham Business School recently ranked number one in the UK by the Economist.

John comments: "There are no boundaries as to how Creativity, once unlocked, can transform peoples lives, it is quite literally a power-source within all of us."

His creative techniques are used to help people of all ages, raising their self-esteem, building confidence and improving performance personally as well as in business.

GLOBAL ART CULTURE IN SHREWSBURY  - Hall's inaugural auction of contemporary art in Shrewsbury which was conducted live on the internet has been declared a success for a number of local artists.  The top selling lot was Whitchurch artist John Rainford 's ' Impressionist Beach ' which combined inks and acrylics on canvas.
